Long day

happy girl :)

Wow, where do I start? The holidays have come and gone and I don't know where I was--it went too fast. After the snow of 2008 and being stuck inside we had gotten all ready for Santa by baking cookies on Christmas Eve morning and cleaning up a little to have a quiet day at home. Boy was I wrong.......something wasn't right with Miss G that day , she wasn't moving freely and rolling and each time I picked her up she screamed in pain. Knowing something wasn't right I called the NHOH--brought her in to Urgent Care and there we were after an exam and x rays on Christmas Eve being told we had to go to CHildren's in Seattle to get her checked out thoroughly......WHAT????????????? My head nearly exploded with what to do , where to send LM , the dogs, it's Christmas Eve for pete's sake. CUT--in enters my friend D and her husband and wonderful family. Got me together , took LM , got LM presents for Santa morning, took care of my crazy dogs, and she even gave up her Christmas w/ her family to go with me on that snowy , icy night to Seattle. Luckily Mimi flew in on Christmas night too in order to help out. The command was AWESOME too. Meals, dog walking, taking care of Mom while she cared for LM. Daddy was freaking out.....I got it together a little before talking to him.
What was the problem? Why did we end up there on Christmas Eve? One simple answer: God!
He luckily lead me to know something wasn't right w/ Miss G that day instead of blowing it off and wondering if she was teething or what have you. Well, she wasn't. After a battery of test each indicating further that something wasn't right.......bloodwork, x rays, ultrasound and finally an MRI (sedation and intubation (sp?) it was determined it was a bacterial infection in her hip joint. The doctors diagnosis "it's just bad luck"..... apparently many kids have this type of thing and it's not unusual in babies whose joint haven't yet formed yet leaving pockets of stuff around there for bacteria to settle into. So the MRI showed pus and bacteria that they pulled out with a big fat needle thinga nd they did emergency surgery on her little hip. She has a 2 inch scar or so and we spent nearly a week in the hospital and received excellent care but were ready to go home.
We made it home on Dec 30 and were here to welcome paw paw in on Jan . 1. G continues to improve and in my opinion is nearly at 100% with the leg...moving, standing on it, rolling, etc. We are following up with bloodwork and Ortho in Seattle each week. We'll keep everyone posted but I suspect her prognosis is great and will continue to improve and stay on antibiotics.
On different notes: Miss G is now free from eye issues.......no baby glasses--yeah!!! Her eyes have straightened themselves out literally and figuratively.
ANd one quote from Mimi and Paw paw's visit:
After Pawpaw had given LM WAY too many craisins for his little body to handle: I say to Paw paw and Mimi: "Great it'll be a night crapper" (absolutely not the best choice in words--especially in front of the LM however a lack of sleep and way too many things on my plate made me temporarily insane)--LM turns to us and says" Mommy, I not a night crapper". FOOT in MOUTH--but it was funny and I'll watch it from now on.
