Blessed...

Just thinking tonight how blessed I am. What a great family I have, wonderful friends and even three geriatric dogs who still wag their tails to see me (although they really love daddy more than me). I've been trying to reflect in all the hoopla that is my life lately. It just seems to be flying by so quickly and I hate it. I want to stop time and just enjoy every second with my family. We have so much coming up and going on it just seems to never end...moving, daddy taking trips, daddy deploying again, school for LM...but each day I am enjoying a new thing they are doing , saying , trying. I love watching these two explore and now they are interacting....G calls him "acton". So this post is nothing more than a sappy reflection on my blessings, being thankful and remembering God is in control. Hopefully He can help me slow down just a bit and enjoy it a little more....I'm getting better, slowly but surely.

Pictures I've been meaning to post......

In the fast and furious fog that is my summer I have been meaning to post some new pictures for all to see....here's just a few

Going down to the "beach" by our house. LM asked to go to the beach so we went down there...got there and he looked at my confused and said "Mommy, I said I wanted to go to the beach" Mommy: this is the beach honey..... LM: No , mommy , I want the beach by Nana's house....well , Toto we aren't in Kansas anymore and nowhere near the world's most beautiful beaches. But here baby, have some driftwood and barnacles on every rock you can find--that's neat right?

Beau, would you like to read with me?

Come on G, snacks are this way...

Beau's favorite treat~

sprinkler time.....what a beautiful laugh~

Smore's by the fireplace on a cold Whidbey summer night:

We always said we wished it would warm up here just a little....

......but not maybe to Nairobi type heat. I tell you I have become way too acclimated to this NW weather. This 90+ weather is for the birds....speaking of birds , they are lately basking in anything resembling a cooling station....puddle, kids pool, bottle of water--you name it. The poor things are having heat strokes around here in this weather.
The sun has been burning holes in my skin the last few days. I have been enjoying running in it though b/c for once I feel like I am doing something sweating buckets while exercising. It's been great to just get out and feel it....until you come back in and your house is hotter than the blazing heat outside. I mean, really my temp in the house reached 88 today and yesterday. We have been enjoying ways to cool off including homemade milkshakes, McDonald's treats and rides in the car. Many of the neighbors have taken to their campers in their driveways ....smart really, at least the things have A/C.
LM has been surprising us everyday with his knowledge and memory. He remembers everything you say, every place you go, etc. His mind is amazing to me ..........and lately he has been noticing body parts and such and keeps commenting on the hair on daddy's legs and arms, when will he get that ? why? will it happen when he gets to be a big boy like daddy?
"BT is a little boy like me and Beau is a big boy like daddy"
"I would like my maredo (torpedo) please mommy"
"G , I don't want a kiss from you right now, give me a minute to wake up" (after being attacked like she does everyday to wake him from nap and tries to climb in the bed w/ him to love on him)

Miss G is doing train, plane and car noises quite well now and impressing her brother and mommy with it. She is so funny and fearless to watch. They have been enjoying the outdoor pool we bought on clearance at Walgreen's (pics to come) and it has been worth every dollar we paid b/c they have had a blast. We outgrew last year's $2 garage sale baby pool with two of them. Now the dogs have been using the baby pool to wade in and lay in in this heat.....ahh, temps finally coming down, it's down to 81 in my house now so I think I'll try to go to sleep --just got G down for the night...out.

I was trying

Normally LM goes to potty by himself....sometimes assistance is required. Now this works out fine for all parties involved as I am usually busy with Miss G........UNTIL now.
Lately LM has decided he wants to do it by himself but also like a big boy STANDING. I am all for trying and sometimes he does well but the experimenting in which direction to point it is killing me.
Today he went , all sounded well until he came out w/ new underwear and pants in his hand. He had a little accident he tells me and sometimes that does happen so that's okay. Until I notice his shirt has pee all up the front of it too. As I begin to question him I realize that his shorts , underwear and shirt all have pee on them...hmmmm. Something's not right...so I question him as to how he went to potty, standing , sitting on the little potty, what??
He says, I tried to pee pee like daddy standing up...well, it didn't work b/c there was pee ont he bathroom counter, floor, rug, you name it. It has since been scrubbed down and all I could do was laugh and try to coax a new method or variation of daddy's method.....whew , that boy makes me laugh :)

I just didn't realize........

....honest to goodness that it would be this crazy. It's fun most days , but crazy. I rarely sit down, I eat at the speed of light if at all lately when daddy isn't here. Miss G is just so active.
She is fast, running now.....mostly from me. LM was just so sweet and we played. There is no playing with this one. SHe is interested in something for 5 seconds and then it's on to create more tornadic activity in another room of the house. She is a climber and tough as nails. Between the two of them I can barely get a shower. Some days daddy comes home and I know he wonders why in the world I still look like I did when he left that morning.
When we go to restaurants I am a nervous wreck b/c she is not entertained by anything anymore. So we try to avoid that at all costs right now. It's just easier to get takeout and eat at home much to daddy's chagrin.
BUT among all that activity and inability to sit down at all she is showing a toothy smile, clapping, saying "car", "bubba", "da" for daddy and clinging to him when he gets home from work. She follows him around when he walks in wearing his flight suit and will hardly let him get undressed while clinging to his legs. She runs up and hugs you , points to snacks and is signing some too.....reluctantly I might add (except for the "more" sign which she gladlly does to get more snacks, food) and she is doing in the pool when we do jumping in the swim lessons....she will do the more sign which is pretty funny. She loves the water, would take off if we'd let her and go on her own if only she could swim.
LM is doing well in lessons all by himself (except for his friend E which I think helps) . He starts in the big pool and even went under yesterday and his whaling could be heard all over the pool area. he was none too happy he went under but recovered somewhat well and we'll see what today brings. I'm off to shower while they are asleep......and the business is why I haven't had the time to post many new pictures or blog much. Doesn't help much that the sun comes up at 4:30 am and goes down at 9pm so the kids think they should be awake that whole time........

Happy 4th of July!!!!

On my soapbox to say thanks to all of those who have served , are serving our country and their families for their support. So many are away from loved ones every single day doing jobs to protect our freedoms we so easily gripe about , take advantage of and all around stomp on at times. Hoping everyone remembers how fortunate we are to have freedom and democracy in this beautiful country.....and thank someone who has/is preserving it.

On another note I remember this time last year and having a baby girl 6 wks old and a rambunctious 2 yr old...my how time flies. Good times were spent w/ the Smiths last year and we look forward to doing another 4th with them again today along with more friends who have become like family as well....how blessed we are :)

Come here mama

G. has been wanting me to follow her to things.....for example. As I sat in the living room she came and patted my leg and started moving toward the kitchen giving me this look as if to say, "well, are you coming or not?" So I did and followed her to the pantry cabinet wher ethe snacks are.....she grinned and patted the cabinet. That was such a cute trick she did get a snack.
LM is being a little nicer to his sister....if only he was as nice to her as he is to his friends sister.....well, one can dream right? One day , maybe.
Dinner with friends tonight --woohoo--adult time! Then we might be off camper looking--not really shopping but looking--something fun to do on daddy's day off.
